Round 304 stainless, not flat steel
Most shades are framed with flat steel wire. It corrodes, and its edge works through the mesh at the fold. Ours is round-profile 304 stainless — it doesn't rust, and it doesn't cut the fabric it sits in.

The mesh is open enough to see through from inside and dense enough to keep the cabin private from outside. Windows still wind down, and air still moves through.

Can't fault the shades, they're well made and fit fine. But ordered these and got an email saying they were out of stock, ended up waiting a fortnight. No real communication in between, had to chase it up myself. Product's good but the buying experience was a bit frustrating.
Had a cheaper pair before from one of the big department stores, they were rubbish compared to these. These actually contour to the window instead of just being a flat sheet that gaps everywhere. Magnets hold tight, material feels decent. Been through a Melbourne heatwave already and no issues.
Does what it says. Keeps the sun off the kids in the back. The front ones took a little fiddling to get seated properly but once on they're fine. Happy enough.
Bought on a whim, glad I did. The magnets are surprisingly strong, was worried they'd fly off on the highway but nope. Fits well around the window frame, looks tidy from outside too. Delivery was quick, turned up in a couple of days.
These are great. Took the kids down to the coast last weekend and usually it's constant complaining about the sun in their eyes. Not a peep out of them this time. Easy to whack on and pull off when you need to wind the windows down properly. Will probably get another set for the missus's car.
