BYD Shark 6 Sun Shades

The Shark 6 does two jobs — work ute during the week, family car on the weekend — and both of them involve the cabin baking while the car is parked. Because it is a plug-in hybrid, that heat costs you twice: once in comfort, and once in the battery charge the air-con burns bringing the cabin back down. These panels are cut to the Shark 6's four door openings and seat inside the window frame.

Why BYD Shark 6 owners choose custom shades

Cooler cabin, less air-con draw

Shading the side glass means the cabin is not starting from scorching when you get in. On a plug-in hybrid, cabin cooling comes out of the battery, so there is a direct payoff.

Rear doors first for the family side

If the Shark 6 carries kids on the weekend, the rear door glass is the one to shade — that is where a child seat sits and where the afternoon sun lands.

Nothing suction-cupped to the glass

The panel is held by its edge seated in the door frame. There is nothing to lose grip as the cabin heats up and nothing to leave a mark on the window.

Works with the window down

The panel sits in the door frame, so you can run the windows down and keep the mesh across the opening against sun, dust and insects.

Features

100% black polyester mesh

Blocks UV and cuts glare and cabin heat while leaving the view out intact. From outside the cabin is harder to see into — worth something with gear on the back seat.

Four door panels

Covers the four windows that wind down. The fixed rear window behind the back seat is not part of the set.

Front panels cut clear of the mirror

Your sightline down the side of the ute stays clear and you can still reach a toll tag or a site reader.

Fitment for your BYD Shark 6

Templated on the Australian-delivered BYD Shark 6 dual cab, covering the four door windows. The Shark 6 arrived here in 2025 and BYD has been revising the range since, so include your build year and trim with the order and we will confirm the panels against your vehicle before anything is cut. How each panel holds — magnetic border or rubber-edged frame — depends on the vehicle; the product page for your set states which it is.

Covers: Front door windows (driver and passenger), Rear door windows, Four-piece set across both rows.

Installation

  1. Wind the window fully down.
  2. Line the panel up with the door opening, top edge first.
  3. Seat the edge into the window frame and work around the surround until it sits flat.
  4. Leave the window down for airflow, or wind it up behind the shade.
  5. Lift one corner to take the panel out.

BYD Shark 6 sun shade FAQs

Will shades help the Shark 6's electric range?
Indirectly. They do not change how the car drives, but a cooler cabin needs less air-con to bring down to temperature, and on a plug-in hybrid that cooling draws on the battery first.
Does the set cover the rear window of the cab?
No. The set is the four door windows you wind down. The fixed glass behind the rear seat is not included.
Are they legal to use while driving in Australia?
On the rear windows, yes. The driver's view must stay clear under Australian road rules, so the front panels are cut short of the mirror line and we recommend removing them before highway speeds.
Which panels should I start with?
Rear doors if the ute carries kids, fronts if it is mostly a work vehicle you sit in all day. The four-piece set covers both.
