Mazda 6 Sun Shades (2002–2008 and 2015–2024)
Also known as: Mazda6
The Mazda 6 has been the sensible family sedan choice in Australia for two decades — and in wagon form, the car people buy instead of an SUV. It has long, low side glass and a big rear screen, so back-seat passengers sit right against the window and the boot cops full sun. Our shades are cut to the 6's own window outlines and hold on magnetically, so the second row is shaded on the drive and the cabin isn't stifling after a day in an office car park.

Why Mazda 6 owners choose custom shades
Shade the second row on the school run
The 6's rear door glass is long and drops low, so an afternoon sun sits straight on a child seat. The rear pair covers that window properly instead of leaving the front and rear corners bare.
Cooler cabin after a day parked
A dark-trimmed sedan left in a Westfield car park or an uncovered office bay gets seriously hot. Keeping direct sun off the seats and door trims means the air-conditioning isn't fighting the whole cabin when you get in.
Useful in the wagon as well as the sedan
On the 2015–2024 car there's a boot/tailgate window panel. In the wagon that's what keeps luggage, groceries or a dog in the back out of direct sun; in the sedan it shades the rear parcel shelf.
Privacy without touching the glass
Mesh panels make it much harder to see what's on the back seat in a car park, and they lift straight off — nothing stuck to the window, nothing to remove before a trade-in.
Features
Cut to Mazda 6 door glass
Patterned from the door window outlines on the actual body shape, so the panel follows the curve of the frame rather than sitting square across the middle of the glass.
Magnetic mounting, no suction cups
The border grips the steel frame around the door glass. Nothing sticks to the window, and nothing drops into the door card halfway down the highway.
See-through mesh
Like a fly screen — passengers can still watch the road go by and you keep a usable view in the mirrors, while the bulk of direct sun and glare is blocked.
Off in seconds, stores flat
Lift a corner and the panel comes away. They fold flat into a door pocket or under the boot floor, so they stay with the car rather than in the shed.
Fitment for your Mazda 6
Please read this before you order: we have a gap in our Mazda 6 coverage. We cut a set for the 2002–2008 car and a set for the 2015–2024 car, and we currently have nothing for a Mazda 6 built between 2009 and 2014. The door glass on those years is a different shape, so neither of our existing sets will sit right on one — we would rather tell you that now than have you send a set back. If your 6 is a 2009 to 2014 car, get in touch with your build year and VIN and we'll let you know if and when we can cut a pattern for it. The two sets we do list cover the four door windows; the 2015–2024 set also has a boot/tailgate window panel, available on its own or bundled, and the 2002–2008 set is door windows only.
Covers: Front driver and passenger door windows, Rear passenger door windows, All four door windows as one set, Boot / tailgate window (2015–2024 only).
Installation
- Match each panel to its window — the front and rear door shapes are different.
- Hold the magnetic border up to the steel frame around the glass and let it pull on.
- Run a finger around the edge so it sits flush into the corners of the frame.
- Peel from one corner to remove, then fold flat into the door pocket.
Mazda 6 sun shade FAQs
- I have a 2012 Mazda 6 — will one of these fit?
- No. We don't have a pattern for a Mazda 6 built between 2009 and 2014, and the two sets we do list are cut for different body shapes. Please don't buy the 2002–2008 or 2015–2024 set for one of those years. Send us your build year and VIN and we'll tell you honestly where we're at.
- Do the shades fit the wagon as well as the sedan?
- The door window panels are the same on both, because the door glass is shared. The boot/tailgate panel on the 2015–2024 set is cut for that model's rear screen — tell us whether yours is a sedan or a wagon when you order and we'll confirm the right piece.
- Can I buy just the rear pair?
- Yes, and it's the most common choice for families. The rear pair covers the two back door windows, which is where a child seat or a sleeping passenger sits.
- Can I leave them on while driving?
- The rear shades are made to stay on. Fit the front pair while the car is parked — to pre-cool it before you get in — and take them off before you drive so the front side windows are clear.
- Will they mark the paint or the glass?
- They shouldn't — the magnets sit on the painted steel frame, not on the glass, and there is no adhesive involved. Wipe grit off the frame before fitting, the same as you would before wiping down a door.
