GWM Tank 500 Sun Shades
The Tank 500 is a big, glassy 4WD, and the cars that get used for touring are the ones that sit parked in the sun the longest — at a campsite, a lookout, a boat ramp. These panels are cut to the Tank 500's door openings and seat inside the window frame, so they stay flat in the surround on corrugations instead of dropping off the glass the way a suction-cup shade does.

Why GWM Tank 500 owners choose custom shades
Made for a car that sits in the sun
Touring means long stops in the open. Shading the door glass keeps the cabin and the second-row seats from soaking up heat while you are away from the car.
Holds on rough roads
The panel is held by its edge seated in the window frame, not by a cup stuck to the glass, so there is nothing to lose suction when the corrugations start.
Keeps the window usable
The panel sits inside the door frame, so you can run the windows down for airflow at camp and still have mesh across the opening against insects and dust.
Harder to see into a loaded 4WD
From inside you see out normally; from outside the mesh makes the cabin harder to read. Useful when there is touring gear on the back seat.
Features
100% black polyester mesh
Blocks UV and cuts glare and cabin heat without blacking out the view from inside.
Cut to the door glass
Four panels for the four windows that wind down. Fixed quarter glass and the tailgate are quoted separately where they apply.
Front panels clear of the mirror
Cut short of the mirror line so your sightline down the side of the vehicle stays clear and you can reach out to a gate or a ticket machine.
Fitment for your GWM Tank 500
Templated on the Australian-delivered GWM Tank 500, covering the four door windows. GWM sells the Tank 500 here in several trims including seven-seat configurations, so include your build year, trim and seat layout with the order and we will confirm the panels against your vehicle before cutting. How each panel holds — magnetic border or rubber-edged frame — depends on the vehicle; the product page for your set states which it is.
Covers: Front door windows (driver and passenger), Rear door windows, Four-piece set across both rows.
Installation
- Wind the window fully down.
- Line the panel up with the door opening, top edge first.
- Seat the edge into the window frame and work around the surround until it sits flat.
- Leave the window down for airflow at camp, or wind it up behind the shade.
- Lift one corner to take the panel out.
GWM Tank 500 sun shade FAQs
- Will they stay put on corrugated roads?
- The panel is held by its edge seated in the window frame rather than by suction on the glass, so there is nothing to lose grip when the road gets rough. We still recommend removing the front panels at highway speeds.
- Can I leave the windows down at camp?
- Yes. That is one of the better reasons to have them — the mesh stays across the opening with the glass down, so you get airflow without insects and dust.
- Does the set include the tailgate or quarter glass?
- No, the standard set is the four door windows. Ask us about the tailgate or the fixed quarter glass and we will quote those against your car.
- Are they legal to use while driving in Australia?
- On the rear windows, yes. Australian road rules require the driver's view to stay clear, so the front panels are cut short of the mirror line and should come off before highway speeds.
