Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Sun Shades
The CLA's styling is the reason it needs shades more than a comparable sedan, not less. That low, steeply raked glasshouse pulls the side windows in close to the occupants and leaves very little roof overhang to throw shade on them, so sun lands directly on shoulders and faces rather than glancing off. The rear is the worst of it: the roofline drops away and the back window is small, so second-row passengers get sun from the side with nothing above to break it up. These shades are cut to the CLA's own door openings - including the pronounced sweep along the top of each frame - so they sit flat against the rubber instead of bowing away at the corners the way a rectangular universal panel does on a curved frame.

Why Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 owners choose custom shades
Shade where the roofline gives none
A tall SUV shades its own side glass for part of the day. A four-door coupe does not - the glass is raked inwards, so from mid-morning to late afternoon the sun comes in almost square. Shades are doing more work on a CLA than on an upright car, which is why owners notice the difference immediately.
Rear seat made usable in summer
The CLA's back seat is close-fitting and the side glass sits right at head height. A rear-door shade that covers the whole opening is the difference between a usable second row on a hot day and one nobody volunteers for.
No suction cups on the glass
The shades magnetise to the steel door surround. Nothing adheres to the window, so there is no ring left behind on dark glass and nothing to let go once the cabin heats up.
Keeps the interior looking new
Leather and dark trim take the brunt of UV. Cutting the sun that lands on the seats and door cards slows the fading and the hard, cracked finish that shows up first on the surfaces nearest the windows.
Features
Cut to the CLA, not to a size bracket
Each panel is measured on the car, produced, refitted and adjusted until it sits flush. The CLA's frames curve in two directions at once, and that is precisely what an approximated shade cannot follow.
Front panels cut for mirror view
The front-door shades stop short of the mirror line, so the driver keeps a clear view down each side of the car and can still reach a toll tag or parking ticket.
Sunroof panel available separately
If your CLA has the glass roof, the insulated panel is a different product to the mesh window shades - a reflective core sized to the roof opening, because overhead glass radiates heat downwards all day and the factory blind alone does not stop it.
Still works with the window down
The shade sits in the frame rather than on the glass, so you can drop the window for airflow and keep the sun, dust and insects out.
Fitment for your Mercedes-Benz CLA 250
The CLA has run through two distinct generations in Australia - the original from 2014 and the current car from 2019 - and the door glass is not interchangeable between them. Our listing is measured for the CLA 250, but before you order, send us the build plate details so we can confirm which generation you have and that your panels will match. If your car has the panoramic glass roof, add the sunroof panel separately; it is not part of the door-window sets.
Covers: Front door windows (2 pcs), Rear door windows (2 pcs), Front and rear door windows (4 pcs), Sunroof panel (1 pc).
Installation
- Wipe the door frame clean so the magnets seat properly.
- Offer the panel to the top edge of the opening and let the magnets take the weight.
- Work down each side, pressing the edge flat into the rubber seal.
- On the front doors, check your mirror view is unobstructed before driving.
- Store the panels flat rather than folded so the edges stay true.
Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 sun shade FAQs
- Which CLA generation do these fit?
- Send us your build plate before ordering. The CLA sold here from 2014 and the car from 2019 onwards have different door glass, so the panels are not interchangeable. We will confirm the right set for your car rather than guess from the model year alone.
- Are they legal on an Australian road?
- On the rear door windows, yes, in every state and territory. On the front doors the driver must keep a clear view of the road and both side mirrors, which is why the front panels are cut short of the mirror line. Nothing goes over the windscreen while the car is moving.
- Will they mark the glass or the trim?
- No. The magnets hold to the painted steel of the door frame and the panel never contacts the glass. There is no adhesive, no suction cup and no pressure on the window seals.
- My CLA already has tinted windows. Is there any point?
- Yes. Tint reduces light coming through the glass; the shade covers the opening and stops a good deal of the heat before it gets that far. On a car with as much raked side glass as the CLA, the two together are noticeably better than either alone.
- Can I use them with the sunroof blind closed?
- Yes, and that is the usual setup. The factory blind blocks the view of the sky but not much of the radiant heat. The insulated roof panel sits against the glass opening and takes the load off the blind.
