Toyota Tarago Sun Shades (1999–2019)

For a generation of Australian families the Tarago was the family bus — seven or eight seats, a long glasshouse and a run of school drop-offs, weekend sport and Christmas trips up the coast. All that glass is the problem: a Tarago parked in the open bakes, and the passengers down the side of the cabin cop direct sun for the whole drive. Our shades are cut to the Tarago's door window outlines and hold on magnetically, so the people in the back get real shade and the cabin isn't an oven when everyone piles in.

Cut to Tarago door glass
People-mover door windows are tall and long, a shape no universal shade matches. Each panel is patterned to that outline so it follows the frame instead of sitting square across the middle of the glass.

Fitment for your Toyota Tarago
We list three Tarago sets: one for the 2006–2009 van, one for the 2010–2019 van, and an older 1999 set that carries a start year but no end year in our catalogue — so the years it stretches to are worth checking with us before you order. The body changed shape considerably across those years, so please don't judge it by eye. Send us your build year and VIN and we'll confirm which pattern matches your Tarago, or tell you honestly if we can't cut yours. Note what each set does and doesn't cover: all three are door-window sets only — a front pair, a rear pair, or all four door windows together. We do not make a shade for the Tarago's rear quarter glass or its tailgate window, so the rearmost row's side glass is not covered.

Installation
- Match each panel to its window — the front and rear door shapes are different.
- Hold the magnetic border up to the steel frame around the glass and let it pull on.
- Run a finger around the edge so it sits flush into the corners of the frame.
- Peel from one corner to remove, then fold flat into a door pocket or the boot well.

- Which Tarago set fits my van?
- Tell us the build year. We cut one set for the 2006–2009 Tarago and another for the 2010–2019 van; the third is listed as a 1999 set with no closing year against it, so we check that one against your car before we ship. If your Tarago is a shape we don't have a pattern for, we'll say so.
- Do the shades stay on the sliding doors?
- Yes — they mount to the steel frame around the glass inside the door, so they travel with the door as it slides and stay put when it opens and closes.
- Is the rearmost row's side glass covered?
- No. For the Tarago we make door window panels only. The fixed quarter glass beside the back row and the tailgate window aren't in the range, so the third-row passengers are shaded by the doors ahead of them rather than by their own panel.
- Can I buy just the rear pair?
- Yes, and it's the usual choice for families. The rear pair covers the two sliding-door windows, which is where child seats and the second row sit.
- Can I leave them on while driving?
- The rear shades are made to stay on. Fit the front pair while the van is parked — to pre-cool it before everyone gets in — and take them off before you drive so the front side windows are clear.
