Ford Window Shades Australia: Every Model We Cut, and What Each One Needs

Ford's Australian line-up is unusual. Most brands sell you a spread of hatches and mid-size SUVs. Ford sells Rangers and Everests — a dual-cab ute and a seven-seat 4WD — and between them they account for most of the Fords you'll pass on any highway between Sydney and Cairns.

That matters for shades, because both have glass problems the average sedan doesn't.

Everything else is made to order — Focus, Fiesta, Escape, EcoSport, Explorer, Mondeo, Tourneo, the older Rangers and Everests, and the Mustang Mach-E. Allow one to two weeks for those, and send your VIN if you're unsure which year bracket you fall into.

The Everest problem is the third row

If you run an Everest with seven seats occupied, the row that suffers is the back one. It sits furthest from the vents, has the smallest glass, and gets the least airflow. Anyone who has driven a full Everest to the coast in February has heard about it from the third row within twenty minutes.

The standard four-piece set — front and rear doors, $99.99 — does nothing for that row. It's the most-bought set and the one that leaves the actual complaint unsolved.

If the third row gets used, start with rear doors plus third row. If it's folded flat and the boot is full of camping gear, rear doors plus boot makes more sense — the Everest tailgate glass is large and close to vertical, so it cooks the load space whenever you park nose-in.

Both Everest generations are listed under the Endeavour name in some markets, so if you've imported one or you're reading overseas listings, that's the same vehicle.

The Ranger problem is the opposite

A dual-cab has the smallest rear door glass of anything we cut for. It's short, it's square, and it sits right beside a child seat with no way to angle away from the sun. There's no third row to worry about, and the rear screen behind the cab is fixed.

So the Ranger range is simpler:

The Raptor 2019–2022 is cut separately and currently comes as door sets only: rear pair, front pair, or all four.

One thing utes get wrong more than any other body type: buying front-only because the driver cops the afternoon sun through the right-hand window. You can't legally drive with a shade on that window anyway. Put the money on the rear doors, where the passenger can't move.

Territory

The Territory gets the full ten-set range, third row and boot included. It's also one of the five Ford fits we hold in stock, so it ships rather than waits.

The rest of the range

Focus — hatch and sedan are cut separately, and so are the 2007–2013 and 2014–2020 generations. Four different Focus patterns. Check the body style and the year before ordering.

Fiesta — same story, hatch and sedan cut separately.

Escape — listed under Kuga in some markets. Note that our Escape listing currently shows a third-row option; the Escape is a five-seater, so ignore that set and order the door and boot pieces.

Explorer — two brackets, 2016–2021 and 2023–2024.

Mondeo — MK3 and MK4 patterns.

EcoSport, Tourneo, Laser, Mustang Mach-E — all made to order.

How the shades attach

A flexible magnetic edge grips the painted steel of the door frame, not the glass. Nothing sticks to the window, so there's no residue, no suction rings, and no problem with factory tint underneath. You can wind the window down with the shade in place, because the shade is mounted to the frame rather than the glass.

The mesh is black polyester. From inside you can see out — as the photos above show, you can read the street through it. From outside in daylight it reads as a dark panel.

UV and heat figures quoted for the material come from the manufacturer and describe the fabric, not a whole-vehicle test. What we'd stand behind without qualification is the fit: a shade cut to your exact door aperture has no corner gaps, and corner gaps are where the sun actually gets in.

Where you can use them

Rear doors, third row and boot glass are fine to drive with. Windscreen and the two front side windows have to be clear while the car is moving, in every state and territory. Our front-door pieces are cut back so the mirror stays visible, but they're still a parked-only item.

Common questions

Will the 2023 Everest set fit my 2019? No. The 2022 redesign changed the rear door glass shape. The two generations are cut from different patterns.

Does the Ranger set fit a Raptor? The Raptor 2019–2022 has its own listing. Order that one rather than the standard Ranger set.

Can I get just the third row? Yes, as a two-piece set for $49.99 on the Everest and Territory. Plenty of people buy that on its own after already owning the four-piece.

My Ford isn't listed. Send the make, model, year and VIN. Some patterns exist but aren't listed yet, and if it's genuinely new we can pattern the car.

Do they work with tint? Yes. The shade sits inside the frame and never touches the film.
