BYD Sun Shades: Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion and Shark
Most BYD questions we get are short. Does the Atto 3 have a tailgate panel? Is the Sealion 6 the one with three rows? Do you do the Shark? The answers are yes, no, and yes, but with a catch. This page goes through the six BYDs sold new in Australia that we cut, what each listing covers, and where we'd like a photo of your car before you order.

The BYD listings
| Car | Body | Windows we cut | Workshop photos | Product |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Atto 3 | Small SUV | Front doors, rear doors, tailgate glass | Yes | Atto 3 |
| Dolphin | Hatch | Front doors, rear doors | Yes | Dolphin |
| Seal | Sedan | Front doors, rear doors | Not yet | Seal |
| Sealion 6 | Mid-size SUV | Doors, rear quarter glass, tailgate glass | Not yet | Sealion 6 |
| Sealion 7 | Mid-size SUV | Doors, rear quarter glass, tailgate glass | Not yet | Sealion 7 |
| Shark 6 | Dual-cab ute | Doors, rear cab window | Not yet | Shark 6 |
None of these listings carries a year range, because each car has had one body in Australia so far. The door sets cost the same on all six: $49.99 for the front pair, $59.99 for the rear pair and $99.99 for all four. Where a listing has them, the quarter glass is $49.99 a pair and the tailgate or rear window is $59.99.
The Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal and Sealion 6 also have model pages: Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal and Sealion 6.
Atto 3
The Atto 3 is the BYD we know best. Our workshop photos are of a real Atto 3, the same body sold in China as the Yuan Plus, which is why that name sits on the listing as an alias.
It is also the only small BYD with a tailgate panel. The options:
| Set | Price |
|---|---|
| Front doors | $49.99 |
| Rear doors | $59.99 |
| Tailgate glass | $59.99 |
| All four doors | $99.99 |
| Front doors plus tailgate | $99.99 |
| Rear doors plus tailgate | $108.99 |
| All four doors plus tailgate | $154.99 |
One of our recent Atto 3 customers in Queensland went straight for the last one, every door and the tailgate. That's the set for a car that parks outside all day. If the back seat is where the kids sit and the car lives in a garage, the rear pair on its own does most of the work. The rear door glass on the Atto 3 is a fair size, and the photo above shows how far down the frame the shade runs.

Dolphin
The Dolphin listing is doors only: front pair, rear pair or all four. There is no tailgate panel for it, which is the main difference from the Atto 3. Our photos were taken on a Dolphin with a lilac and grey interior. Trim colours change from market to market, so go by the shape of the door and the glass rather than the colour.

Seal
The Seal is a sedan, so the listing is the three door sets and nothing for the rear screen. We don't have workshop photos of a fitted Seal on the listing yet, only a product illustration, so if you'd like to see the shape before ordering, ask us.
Sealion 6: two rows, not three
This is the one to read carefully. The Sealion 6 is a five-seat SUV. Behind each rear door it has a small fixed window in the pillar, and that is the pane our listing covers with its quarter-glass pieces.
On the listing those pieces are currently labelled "Third-Row Side Windows". On a Sealion 6 that means the rear quarter glass. There is no third row of seats. A customer in New South Wales with a 2025 Sealion 6 bought the rear doors plus that pair in September, and it is the right combination for anyone who wants the back seat fully shaded. Our piece on third-row and quarter glass explains why that little window needs its own pattern.
The Sealion 6 carries the full range of combinations:
| Set | Price |
|---|---|
| Rear doors plus quarter glass (4 pieces) | $99.99 |
| Rear doors plus tailgate | $108.99 |
| All four doors plus quarter glass (6 pieces) | $145.99 |
| All four doors plus tailgate | $154.99 |
| Rear doors plus quarter glass plus tailgate | $154.99 |
| Every window | $199.99 |
The single pieces and door pairs are priced as above. As with the Seal, the listing has no workshop photos yet.
Sealion 7
The Sealion 7 is the bigger of the two Sealion SUVs. Its listing has the same spread as the Sealion 6, with the quarter pieces correctly called "Rear Quarter Windows", and the same prices, up to $199.99 for every window. A Queensland customer took the rear doors plus quarter glass in October.
We added the Sealion 7 in September. There are no workshop photos on this listing yet either. Send us a rear-door photo if you want us to check before you order.
Shark 6
The Shark 6 is a dual-cab ute, and the listing is front doors, rear doors and one more piece called "Boot / Tailgate Window". On a ute there is no boot. That piece is for the rear window of the cab, the glass behind the back seat, and the same piece carries the same name on the other utes we cut. Our dual-cab ute guide goes into why that window matters on a ute with kids in the back.
| Set | Price |
|---|---|
| Rear doors | $59.99 |
| All four doors | $99.99 |
| Rear doors plus rear cab window | $108.99 |
| All four doors plus rear cab window | $154.99 |
The Shark 6 listing has no workshop photos yet, and the rear cab window piece is the part we'd most like to check against your car. If you're ordering it, send us a photo of the back of the cab first.
The BYDs we don't cover here
The Han sedan and the M6 people mover are on our site, but neither is sold new in Australia, so they're listed for cars that came in from other markets. The M9 people mover is a different case. BYD has announced it for Australia, but local cars are only just arriving and our listing has no workshop photos, so ask us before ordering for one.
We don't have listings for the Atto 1, Atto 2, Sealion 5 or Sealion 8 at the moment. If you drive one, tell us. The list grows from what people ask for, and the measuring app is how we quote a car we don't cut yet.
Fitting and driving
None of the BYD listings names a particular mount, so each product page shows how its set fits the frame. The shades hold in normal driving, but take them off before a highway run.
The rear door, quarter, tailgate and rear cab window shades can stay in while you drive around town. Front door shades are for when the car is parked. The front pieces are cut back from the mirror, but the windscreen and front side windows have to stay clear when you're moving, in every state and territory. Our guide to whether car sun shades are legal sets out the rules.
Ordering
Find your car in the first table and take that listing. For an Atto 3, decide whether you want the tailgate covered. For a Sealion 6, remember the "third-row" pieces are the quarter glass. For a Seal, Sealion 6, Sealion 7 or Shark 6, there are no workshop photos on the listing yet, so if you have any doubt, send us a rear-door photo before you buy.
If you're not sure which windows to cover, our guide to choosing which windows to shade works through it. Most people start with the rear pair. If a set doesn't fit the way it should, you have 30 days to send it back under our returns policy.
The full list of Chinese brands we cut, including MG, Omoda, Jaecoo, Haval and Geely, is in the BYD, MG, Omoda and GWM guide, and every BYD listing is collected on the BYD brand page.
