Mazda 3 Sun Shades

Two things decide which Mazda 3 set you need: the build year, and — for some years but not others — whether you have the hatch or the sedan. That second part catches people out, because it does not apply consistently across generations.

The generations

Where the body split applies, and where it doesn't

Read that table again, because the pattern is not what you would guess:

• 2020–2025 is explicitly split. Two separate products, one named Sedan and one named Hatchback. Ordering the hatch set for a sedan, or the reverse, means the rear glass will not match.
• 2009–2014 has two listings, but only one names a body. The catalogue lists a "3S (Smile Facelift)" and a "3S Hatchback (Smile Facelift)". The hatch is unambiguous. The other row does not state a body style — sitting alongside a hatchback row it is most likely the sedan, but the catalogue does not say so, so confirm before ordering if you have a 2009–2014 sedan.
• 2004–2008 and 2014–2019 are not split. A single listing covers the generation regardless of body. You do not need to specify.

So "does the Mazda 3 come in hatch and sedan versions" has a different answer depending on which Mazda 3 you own. If you are on a 2009–2014 or 2020–2025 car, check the boot before you order. If you are on a 2004–2008 or 2014–2019, it is one decision fewer.

Decoding the listing names

The Mazda 3 carries more alternate names than most, and they are not decorative — on the 2020–2025 generation they are how the two bodies are distinguished:

• Axela is the Japanese-market name. It appears on the 2004–2008 listing, both 2009–2014 listings, and the 2020–2025 sedan.
• Mazda3 Sport appears on the 2020–2025 hatchback.
• 3S (Smile Facelift) is how the 2009–2014 generation is listed. There are two of these: one with "hatchback" in the name and one without. The one without does not state its body style — see the note above.
• Mazda3 All New is on the 2014–2019 listing.

If you are importing or shopping from a Japanese-market listing badged Axela, match on build year and body style exactly as above.

Years with no set listed

As at this catalogue snapshot:

• 1999–2003. The Mazda 323 1994–1998 is listed, and the Mazda 3 range starts at 2004. Cars built between those two points have no listed set. That is the only gap in the run. One further point that is not a gap: the third generation ends at 2019 and the fourth starts at 2020, so every year is covered — but a car built right across that changeover is worth confirming before you order, since the two generations are different cuts.

This is not a permanent absence — it is what is listed today. If your build year falls in a gap, ask rather than ordering the nearest range.
