Nissan X-Trail Sun Shades — T30, T31 or T32, and How to Read Your Chassis Code

The X-Trail is one of the few vehicles in the catalogue where the listings are named after the chassis code rather than the year, and that is deliberate — three X-Trail bodies have been sold in Australia under the same three letters, and the code is the only thing that separates them cleanly.

Finding your chassis code

The code is on the compliance plate, usually in the driver's door jamb. It is worth two minutes of looking, because it removes every other question on this page.

If the plate is unreadable or you are buying for someone else's car, the bodies are distinguishable by eye once you know what separates them. The T30 is the boxy early one; the T31 is the second, still square-shouldered; the T32 is the rounded body that arrived for 2014. Photographs of the three side by side settle it faster than any description, and if you are unsure, send us a photo of your car's flank — the rear door and quarter glass shape is what we are looking at anyway.

2007 sits in two listings

The T30 listing closes on 2007 and the T31 listing opens on it. A 2007-build X-Trail can be either body depending on when it was made.

There is no cutoff month we publish for this, because we do not have one we can stand behind and a guess would cost you a return. Read the build month off the compliance plate, or send it to us with the chassis code and we will point you at the right listing. If your X-Trail is 2006 or earlier, or 2008 through 2013, only one listing covers you and the question does not arise.

The fourth listing, honestly

There is a fourth X-Trail product with no year range stated on it. We are not going to guess which body it belongs to on your behalf — check the product page itself for what it covers, or ask us with your build year and chassis code before ordering. If your car is a T30, T31 or T32, one of the three coded listings above is the one you want.

Two other things about that listing. It is also carried under the name Rogue, which is what the X-Trail is called in North America — so if you have been searching "Nissan Rogue sun shades" from Australia, that is where you have been landing. And the photograph on it is of a Rogue, not an Australian-delivered X-Trail.

The T31 has no photo

Every other X-Trail listing has a workshop photograph of our shades on an actual car. The T31 does not — it has studio product imagery only. That is not a comment on the set, it is a gap in our photography, and we would rather say so than show you a rendered picture and let you assume it was a photo of a fitted car.

Nissans that get ordered as an X-Trail

• Qashqai — smaller, and split by seat count rather than by year: 5 seats and 7 seats. Both are carried under the name Dualis, which is what the Qashqai was badged in Australia for years, and the 7-seat one under Dualis+2. The seven-seat body has a third row and the glass behind it, so the two sets are not interchangeable.
• Navara — the ute, cut as D40 2005–2015 and 2015–2024. Note 2015 appears in both, same compliance-plate check as the X-Trail's 2007.
• Patrol — its own listing, also carried as Armada.

What a set covers

Side door glass, plus boot or tailgate where fitted. On an X-Trail that means the rear door glass your kids sit against on the way to the coast, which is the glass that matters on a 38-degree day. There is no windscreen product in the range.
