Toyota HiLux Sun Shades — Which of the Three Cuts Fits Yours (2007–2025)

The HiLux has been Australia's best-selling vehicle for most of the last decade, which means the car park is full of them and almost none of them are the same shape. We cut three HiLux sets, not one, and the year you tell us matters more than the trim, the cab style or the badge on the tailgate.

Those extra names in the middle column are the names the same listing is carried under elsewhere — useful if you have been searching "HiLux Revo shades" and finding nothing on an Australian site. They are search terms, not a claim about what is stamped on your car.

The 2015 overlap, and what to do about it

Read the table again and you will see 2015 twice. It closes the 2007–2015 listing and opens the 2015–2018 one. That is not a typo and it is not sloppiness — the HiLux changed shape partway through that year, so a 2015-build ute can be either the old body or the new one depending on when it came down the line.

There is no month, VIN prefix or chassis code we can give you that settles it from a distance, and we are not going to invent one. If your HiLux is a 2015:

• Check the compliance plate, usually on the driver's door jamb or under the bonnet. It carries the actual build month and year, which is the number that matters — not the year on your rego papers.
• Look at the door glass line. The two bodies are different enough that a side-by-side photo settles it in seconds.
• Ask us before you order. Send the build month from the plate and we will tell you which of the two listings to take. This is the single most common HiLux question we get, and it takes one message.

If your ute is a 2014 or earlier, or a 2016 through 2018, the question does not arise — there is only one listing that covers you.

The years with no cut listed

Coverage runs 2007 to 2025, but not every HiLux is inside it.

• Before 2007 there is no HiLux set. The earlier utes are not in the catalogue at any price. If you have an older HiLux, custom-fit magnetic shades are not something we can supply for it.
• 2018 into 2019 is the join between the second and third listings. The 2015–2018 set ends at 2018 and the 2019–2025 set begins at 2019, so a late-2018 or early-2019 build is worth checking against the compliance plate rather than the model year, same as the 2015 cars.

The badge that is not a HiLux

The Fortuner is a different vehicle with different glass, and it has its own two listings — 2007–2016 and 2017–2025. If you drive a Fortuner, order the Fortuner set. A HiLux set is not a substitute, and the shared mechanical parts underneath have nothing to do with the shape of the windows.

The same logic runs the other way. Trim level does not change the cut — the listings are by build year and body, not by grade, because the door glass does not change with the badge on the seats.

What a set covers

Every set we cut is for the side door windows, and where the vehicle has them, the boot or tailgate, third-row and port windows. We do not make a windscreen product and never have. For a dual-cab HiLux that means the front and rear door glass is what you are shading — the part of the cabin where the kids, the dog and your left arm actually cop the sun on a Queensland afternoon.
