Volvo XC40, XC60 and XC90 Sun Shades, by Generation
We cut four Volvos: the XC40, the electric EC40, the XC60 and the XC90. None of the four listings carries a year range, so the useful question for a Volvo owner isn't "which listing", it's "was this set cut on my shape of car". The workshop photos answer that for each one, and that's what this page goes through.

The four listings
| Car | Shape in our photos | Windows we cut | Mount | Product |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XC40 | The XC40 (one shape so far) | Front and rear doors | Magnet | XC40 |
| EC40 (C40 Recharge) | The sloping-roof EC40 | Front and rear doors | Plastic mount | EC40 |
| XC60 | The current XC60, introduced in 2017 | Doors, the fixed glass behind the rear doors, tailgate | Shown on the listing | XC60 |
| XC90 | The current XC90, here since 2015 | Doors, third-row windows, tailgate | Shown on the listing | XC90 |
Volvo sits on our premium price tier with Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar and Mini: $49.99 for the front pair, $69.99 for the rear pair and $108.99 for all four doors. The Euro car guide has the Porsche, Land Rover, Mini and Peugeot listings on the same page if the household runs more than one European car.
XC40
The XC40 has been one body since it came out, with a facelift along the way, so there's no generation to sort out. The set is doors only: front pair, rear pair or all four, and it's held on by magnets.
On the rear door the XC40 has a narrow fixed section at the back of the window. Our photos show the shade covering the main glass and that section together, so the whole opening is shaded rather than leaving a bright strip by the seat.

The XC40 order in our records, to Queensland, was the four-door set. None of the three XC40 sets are on the shelf at the time of writing, so an order is made to order, which adds one to three weeks before dispatch. The XC40 page carries the same listing.
EC40, sold first as the C40 Recharge
The EC40 shares a lot with the XC40, but it isn't the same car to a shade. Its roof slopes down towards the back, so the rear door glass is a different shape, lower at the back edge. That's why it has its own listing, and why an XC40 rear pair won't fit it. The listing carries both names, C40 and C40 Recharge, as aliases, so if your paperwork says C40, this is the one.
The EC40 set uses a plastic mount rather than the magnets on the XC40. Like the XC40, it's front pair, rear pair or all four doors, and it's made to order at the moment.

There's no separate EC40 page on the site, so the product page is the place to order from.
XC60
Every photo on the XC60 listing is the current shape, the one introduced in 2017, with a metal speaker grille near the top of each door and leather door inserts. The listing has no years on it. If your XC60 is the earlier body, built before the current shape arrived, send us your build date or a photo of an open rear door before ordering. We haven't photographed this set on the older car.
The XC60 has the widest range of the four. Past the doors there's the tailgate glass, and a small fixed window on each side behind the rear doors. The listing calls that piece "Third-Row Side Windows", which is our standard name for it across the range. The XC60 is a five-seater with no third row; on this car it means the fixed quarter glass beside the boot. We wrote about why that glass needs its own pattern.

| Set | Price |
|---|---|
| Rear doors | $69.99 |
| Tailgate glass | $69.99 |
| Rear quarter windows (listed as third-row) | $49.99 |
| All four doors | $108.99 |
| Rear doors plus quarter windows | $108.99 |
| Rear doors plus tailgate | $126.99 |
| All four doors plus tailgate | $172.99 |
| Rear doors, quarter windows and tailgate | $172.99 |
| Every window (8 pieces) | $217.99 |
Look at the fourth and fifth lines. All four doors and the rear doors plus quarter glass cost the same. If the front windows only bother you when the car's parked, the second set shades the whole back seat for the same money. With a dog in the boot, the rear doors plus tailgate at $126.99 is the set to look at. All XC60 sets are in stock at the time of writing. The XC60 page has the listing too.
XC90
The XC90 photos are the current seven-seater, the shape sold here since 2015, with tan leather and a wood strip across the door. As with the XC60, the listing has no years. If yours is the earlier XC90, built before 2015, it's a different body; send your build date or a rear-door photo first and we'll tell you whether this set fits.

On the XC90, "third row" means what it says. Behind each rear door is a fixed window beside the two back seats, and the people sitting there have no window to wind down. That pair is $49.99. The tailgate glass is $69.99. The prices line up with the XC60, so the same two sets stand out: all four doors or the rear doors plus the third-row pair, both $108.99. For a family that uses all seven seats, rear doors plus third-row windows shades the two rows where the kids sit.
The full eight-piece set is $217.99, and the rear doors, third-row windows and tailgate together are $172.99. All XC90 sets are in stock at the time of writing. The XC90 page carries the listing, and if you're comparing seven-seaters, the third-row guide linked above covers the same glass on other cars.
Driving with them in
The rear door, quarter, third-row and tailgate shades can stay in while you drive. Front door shades are for when the car is parked. They're cut back from the mirror, but the front side windows have to stay clear while you're moving in every state and territory. Our guide to whether car sun shades are legal sets out the rules state by state.
The shades hold in normal driving, but take them off before a run on the highway.
Roof panels
The XC40, XC60 and XC90 also have roof panel listings for cars with the factory panoramic roof. Sunroof shade orders are paused for now, so they can't be bought at the moment. The sunroof guide explains how they differ from the mesh.
Ordering
Start with the car. An XC40 or an EC40 is easy: they're separate listings, and the roofline tells you which one you have. For an XC60 built before 2017 or an XC90 built before 2015, send us your build date or a rear-door photo first, because the sets were photographed on the current shapes. If you're working from a rego date rather than the build plate, the guide to build dates and generations shows where to find the build month.
Then the windows. Most people start with the rear doors; our guide to choosing which windows to cover works through why. On the XC90, add the third-row pair if the back seats get used. On the XC60, the quarter glass is worth adding if the kids complain about sun from behind.
If a set doesn't fit the way it should, you have 30 days to send it back under our returns policy.
