Toyota Kluger Sun Shades: 2008–2014 and 2014–2020
A Kluger has a lot of glass behind the driver. On the 2014–2020 car, past the two rear doors, there is a fixed quarter window on each side beside the third row and then the tailgate glass over the boot. We cut all of it for that car. For the Kluger before it we cut the doors only, and for the current Kluger, on sale since 2021, we have no set at all.
Two listings, then, and one gap. The year on the rego papers sorts most cars into the right one, except in 2014.

Kluger and Highlander are the same car
Toyota sells this SUV as the Highlander in most of the world and as the Kluger in Australia. The body and the glass are the same. Our workshop cuts and photographs these shades on Highlanders, which is why the photo addresses on our product pages say "highlander", and why the older listing's web address is toyota-highlander-2008-2014 even though the product is titled Kluger.
That matters for the older listing in particular. It is the second-generation Kluger, the one sold here before the 2014 change. Trim colours vary by market and grade, so go by shape: in our workshop photos of this car, the grab handle runs vertically down the door from the door pull. If your rear door has that layout, you are looking at the right set.
The two Kluger cuts
| What you have | Build years on the listing | Windows we cut | Product |
|---|---|---|---|
| Second-generation Kluger | 2008–2014 | Front doors, rear doors | Kluger 2008–2014 |
| Third-generation Kluger, including the facelift | 2014–2020 | Front doors, rear doors, rear quarter windows, tailgate glass | Kluger 2014–2020 |
| Current Kluger | 2021 on | Not cut | None yet |
The Toyota Kluger page carries both listings side by side.
2008–2014: doors only
The older Kluger set is door glass and nothing more. Front pair $49.99, rear pair $59.99, all four $99.99. There is no quarter window piece for this body and no tailgate panel, so if the third row gets used every day, the set stops at the second row.

If there are kids in the second row, the rear pair is the piece doing the work, and it is the one we would buy first. The front pair is for when the car is parked. Front side window shades are not for driving, and our guide to the rules in each state explains why.
2014–2020: the full set of positions
The third-generation Kluger is the one we cover end to end. Besides the four doors there are two more positions.
The rear quarter windows are the fixed panes behind each rear door. On a five-seat SUV that glass sits behind the back seat. On the Kluger it sits right beside the third row, so if anyone rides back there, this is their window. The listing calls the piece "Rear Quarter Windows", and it comes as a pair at $49.99. If you want to know why that pane needs its own pattern, there is a separate piece on quarter and third-row glass.
The tailgate panel covers the rear glass in the lift-up tailgate. It is $69.99 on the Kluger, ten dollars more than the tailgate panel on most of our other SUVs. The combinations that include it run about nine dollars above the same sets on those SUVs.
The prices for the sets families tend to pick:
| Set | Price |
|---|---|
| Rear doors | $59.99 |
| Front and rear doors (4 pieces) | $99.99 |
| Rear doors plus quarter windows (4 pieces) | $99.99 |
| Rear doors plus tailgate | $117.99 |
| Front and rear doors plus quarter windows (6 pieces) | $145.99 |
| Front and rear doors plus tailgate | $163.99 |
| Every window | $208.99 |
Look at the second and third rows of that table. The four-door set and the rear-doors-plus-quarters set cost the same $99.99. If the front doors are rarely the problem and the third row is used, the second one covers two rows of passengers instead of one.
The tailgate panel earns its place if the boot carries a dog or a pram in summer. The glass is large and close to whatever is in the boot.
The 2014 changeover
Toyota replaced the second-generation Kluger with the third during 2014, and our two listings both include 2014 for that reason. A car first registered in 2014 can be either body, and the sets are not interchangeable: the door glass is a different shape.
The build date on the compliance plate settles it, and the guide to working out your generation shows where to look. If you are standing next to the car, open a rear door. In our workshop photos, the older car has the vertical grab handle shown above. The 2014–2020 car has a horizontal strip running across the door at handle height instead, as in the photo at the top of this page.
The listing covers the facelifted third-generation car as well, so a 2018 or 2020 Kluger takes the same set as a 2015 one.
The one we do not cut: 2021 on
The current Kluger, the fourth generation that arrived in 2021, is a new body. Our 2014–2020 set is not cut for it, and the window shapes are different enough that we would not suggest trying. If yours is a 2021 or later Kluger, check with us before ordering anything. The measuring app lets you send us the windows for a quote.
The same goes for the first Kluger, sold here before the second generation. We have no listing for it.
Ordering
Work out the body first. A Kluger built before the 2014 change takes the 2008–2014 listing, and that is doors only. A Kluger built from the 2014 change through 2020 takes the 2014–2020 listing, with the quarter windows and the tailgate available. A 2014 car needs a look at the plate or the door trim before you choose. A 2021 or later car is one we cannot help with yet.
Then pick the windows. For most families that starts with the rear doors, and our guide to choosing which windows to cover works through the reasoning. On the 2014–2020 car, add the quarter windows if the third row is in use, and the tailgate if the boot carries anything that minds the heat.
If you are still deciding between seven-seaters, the Hyundai Palisade guide covers another three-row SUV we cut, and the full Toyota list has the other Toyota fits.
