Small SUVs are bought for the back seat more often than the badge suggests. A child seat behind the driver, a short rear door with a lot of glass for its size, a car parked outside all day. That is why, across the four small SUVs on this page, the rear pair is the set people order. Of the six recent orders where we can tie the set to the car, four were the rear pair on its own, one added the boot and one was all four doors.
The catch with all four cars is the build year. Each listing is cut for one body, and most of these nameplates have an earlier or later body that this set does not fit. Here is where each line falls.
| Car | Build years we cut | Windows we cut | Not cut | Product |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Subaru Crosstrek | 2023–2026 | Front and rear doors | XV, 2012–2022 | Crosstrek 2023–2026 |
| Hyundai Kona | 2017–2023 | Doors and tailgate | Second-generation Kona, 2023 on | Kona 2017–2023 |
| Suzuki Vitara | 2015–2026 | Front and rear doors | Older Vitaras are separate listings | Vitara 2015–2026 |
| Toyota Yaris Cross | 2023–2025 | Doors and tailgate | Not listed for 2020–2022 builds | Yaris Cross 2023–2025 |
Prices are the same on all four: $49.99 for the front pair, $59.99 for the rear pair, $99.99 for all four doors. On the Kona and Yaris Cross the tailgate panel is $59.99, $108.99 with the rear doors, or $154.99 with all four doors and the tailgate. Sets not on the shelf are made to order.
Subaru Crosstrek, 2023–2026

The Crosstrek listing is cut for the current car, the one Subaru Australia launched under the Crosstrek name in 2023. Before that the same model line was sold here as the XV, and that is the gap to know about: we have no XV set, for either the 2012–2017 or the 2017–2023 body. The name changed with a new body, so a 2022 XV and a 2024 Crosstrek are not the same pattern, and ordering the Crosstrek set for an XV will not work.
The Crosstrek set is doors only, front pair, rear pair or all four, and it mounts magnetically on the door frame. Of the three Crosstrek orders in our records, one was the rear pair, one the four-door set and one did not record a set. The Crosstrek page carries the same listing, and the Subaru list has the Forester and Outback if the household runs two Subarus.
Hyundai Kona, 2017–2023

The Kona listing is the first-generation car, sold here from 2017 and facelifted partway through its run. It also mounts magnetically, and it is one of the two small SUVs here where we cut the tailgate glass as well as the doors.
The gap is at the other end. Hyundai replaced the Kona with a new, larger body in 2023, and we do not cut that car. Because the changeover happened in 2023, a 2023 Kona can be either one, and the build month on the compliance plate settles it; the guide to build dates and generations explains how to read it. The two bodies look quite different side on, so a photo usually answers it as well.
The Kona has three orders in our records, all to Victoria: two rear pairs and one rear doors plus tailgate, the last for a Kona Electric, which shares the first-generation body. If the boot carries a dog or the shopping, the $108.99 rear-and-tailgate set is the one to look at. We also list a one-panel sunroof shade for the Kona, $49.99, for cars that left the factory with a glass roof. The Kona page and the Hyundai list cover the rest of the range.
Suzuki Vitara, 2015–2026

The 2015–2026 listing is the current small Vitara, the low crossover that arrived here in 2015 and is often called the New Vitara to tell it apart from the older four-wheel drive. One listing covers the whole run, including the cars after the 2019 facelift. It is cut for the front and rear doors; there is no tailgate panel on this one. The shade fits into the door frame.
Older Suzukis are not covered by this set. The earlier Vitara has its own 2003–2008 listing, the Grand Vitara is a different, taller body with its own listing, and the Suzuki list sorts out which Vitara-badged car is which.
The one Vitara order we can attribute to a single car was the rear pair. The Vitara page has the same listing.
Toyota Yaris Cross, 2023–2025

The Yaris Cross listing covers 2023–2025 builds. The car launched here in late 2020, so the 2020–2022 cars sit outside the listed range. We have not listed those years, and we would rather you ask with your build year than order and hope. The rear door has a small fixed pane at its trailing edge, and the photo shows mesh over both it and the main glass.
Like the Kona, the Yaris Cross gets a tailgate panel as well as the doors, which makes the $108.99 rear-and-tailgate set the one for a car that does school and shopping runs. There is also a two-panel sunroof shade, $69.99, for cars with the factory glass roof. We have no Yaris Cross orders to point to yet. The Yaris Cross page and the Toyota list carry the other Toyota fits.
Ordering
Check the build year first, against the table above. The two that need care are the 2023 Kona, which can be either generation, and any Subaru badged XV, which we do not cut. Then pick the windows. For most small SUV owners the rear pair is the right start; the guide to which windows to cover explains why, and the tailgate panel is worth adding on the Kona and Yaris Cross if the boot is in use. If your car is an XV or a second-generation Kona, the measuring app is how we quote a car we do not cut yet.
